Ways To Treat Varicose Vains

Varicose vein are veins that have become enlarged and twisted. Varicose veins can develop when small valves in the veins become weak. Any vein in the human body can become varicose, but the veins that are most affected are those located in your legs and feet. And the most common ways for the veins that are located both in the legs and feet to be varicose, is standing and walking upright which increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body.

The varicose vein has a dark blue or purple appearance and may bulge out from underneath the skin. Having varicose veins could also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems.

Ways on how to prevent/treat varicose veins

1. Exercise

Regular exercise is one of the ways of improving blood circulation throughout the body. When you partake in regular exercise, you improve blood circulation in your legs, which helps to push along the blood that are collected in the veins. Exercising also lower blood pressure, which is another risk factor of the varicose vein.

2. Avoid been overweight

People who are overweight are more likely to develop varicose veins, especially overweight women and elderly people. Carrying excess body weight puts a higher amount of pressure on your veins and can contribute to inflammation or reflux, especially in the largest superficial veins, such as the saphenous vein in the legs.

3. Avoid prolonged periods of sitting or standing

Standing or Sitting for a longer periods of time makes it harder for blood to travel in the veins against gravity. This cause the pressure in the veins to rinse. This can eventually cause blood to pool around your ankles and your feet and calves can get swollen and achy.

4. Compression stockings

Compression stockings are another way to treat various vein. This makes it easier for the veins to function properly and reduces blood pooling, swelling, and pain.

5. Eat more flavonoids

Adding foods that contain flavonoids may also help a person to shrink their varicose veins. Flavonoids improve blood circulation, which will keep the blood flowing, and make it less likely to pool in the veins. They also help to reduce blood pressure in the arteries and can relax blood vessels, all of which can reduce varicose veins. Foods that contain flavonoids include vegetables, including onions, bell peppers, spinach, and broccoli, citrus fruits and grapes, cherries, apples, and blueberries, cocoa, garlic.

 6. Herbal remedies

According to the National Institute of Health, taking grape seed extract,Vitis vinifera, orally may help to reduce swelling in the lower legs and other symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency, though there is currently limited evidence for its effectiveness. Someone prescribed with blood-thinning medication should avoid taking grape seed extract, as a dietary supplement, as it can interact with the medication and increase the risk of bleeding.
